Often in Berlin, you can either go to a club, bar, or restaurant, and you have to decide beforehand how you want to spend the evening. Places where all these experiences are combined are rare. It’s lucky that the YAFO exists.
With good music, a relaxed atmosphere, delicious drinks, and hospitality, YAFO’s two locations in Berlin Mitte and Kreuzberg embody the true Tel Aviv lifestyle and authentic Israeli cuisine.
Culinarily, the restaurant offers a special fusion of lively flavours from the Israeli metropolis and Berlin-typical elements. Each dish is adapted to the cultures and tastes of the different cities and harmonizes perfectly.
You will get the best impression of the specific YAFO bouquet by ordering different dishes and sharing them with your loved ones. So your table might fill up with feta in olive oil and spices, sweet potato smashed with tzatziki, roasted aubergine with fresh tomato sauce and tahini, hummus with Pita bread, roasted cauliflower, and the legendary falafels.
Yafo at Zarqa: a culinary love story
In addition to the YAFO in Kreuzberg, you can try Israeli-Arabic delicacies in the Alte Schönhauser Straße since the beginning of June 2023. What started as a little flirtation with a pop-up dinner has become a newly designed, lively hotspot in Mitte: YAFO at Zarqa.
The menu reflects both cultures and entails soul-stirring dishes from Tel Aviv with Arabic influences – for example spicy Matbucha, creamy Hummus, and perfect Shawarma.
Loving food and happy guests
Founder Shani Ariel can identify well with the characteristics of the German capital. Like Berlin itself, she also values a symbiosis of traditions and modernity and admires the courage of Berlin people to break traditional rules.
Her greatest source of inspiration is the recipes of her ancestors, which she incorporates into her culinary creations at YAFO. She weaves this connection to her roots into every dish, adding warmth to every bite.
Whether intimate togetherness or in a sociable round – YAFO is a place of companionship, and that to any occasion. Because Shani Ariel’s open-mindedness carries over to the atmosphere of the restaurant.
“A home away from home”
It is especially important to Shani Ariel that YAFO is a place where all people feel invited, welcome, and comfortable. The only common denominator should be the love of conviviality. This concept works: Their passion for their guests and dishes is clearly noticeable, and the restaurant is almost regularly fully booked.
